Job description

Join our CDL-A OTR driver team "We Haul Wholesome" at Dairy Farmers of America - the leading milk marketing cooperative and dairy food processor within the United States.

Our drivers transport bulk liquid dairy products. We are passionate about the farmer-owners, the dairy industry and supplying consumers with safe and nutritious products.

Currently hiring OTR drivers assigned to our SLC terminal.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Operate a truck and tanker, tractor-trailer, for two weeks at a time without home time, which may require completing 34-hour resets while away from home domicile. Pick up or deliver products in a safe and timely manner to customers, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the dispatcher or supervisor. Demonstrate high standards of customer service. Communicate frequently with peers, dispatchers, supervisors, and others.

Earn up to $80,000 - $100,000 annually

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations, and policies, adhering to all safety practices
  • Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations ina safe and timely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
  • Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents, or breakdowns
  • Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (varies from route to route)
  • Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to dispatch, the supervisor or the manager
  • Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, ) and maintain a clean vehicle
  • Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
  • Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
  • Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
  • Use company supported applications or systems properly
  • Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals

Job requirements:

  • Class A CDL with tanker endorsement
  • 1 Years CDL-A driving experience w/in last 5 years
  • Must pass DOT Medical exam
  • Must pass drug & alcohol clearing house
  • 21 years of age
  • Meet MVR requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
  • Must meet all DOT requirements
  • Certification and/or License - valid Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
  • Skill in proficient mobile device use
  • Skill with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
  • Good organization and record keeping skills
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps to solve problems
  • Able to follow directions and meet deadlines
  • Able to interpret and apply company policies
  • Able to perform task and duties with minimal supervision
