Harborview Medical Center's Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RN).

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE, 40 hours per week

  • Day Shift

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic at Harborview provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. These conditions include impacted teeth, oral pathology, facial trauma, head and neck infections, maxillofacial reconstruction/implants, dentofacial deformities and temporomandibular joint disorders. .

The clinic's general focus is on adult patients, but patients of any age are treated for injuries sustained from trauma or for emergency care. A parent or guardian who can legally give written informed consent must accompany any patient under 18 years of age.

Our clinic staff includes dental assistants, registered nurses and patient care coordinators. Dental assistants complete initial intake, take radiographs, seat the patient and assist other healthcare professionals during procedures. Registered nurses assist with IV sedation procedures and provide patient education. Patient care coordinators help with referrals, general questions and assist patients with scheduling surgeries and procedures.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions

  • Assist the provider in performance of procedures, and as an independent provider of certain RN procedures

  • Provide direct care and assist in delivering preventive client-focused health services including assessment, education, intervention and counseling related to health maintenance and other assigned duties

  • Coordinates care for a group of patients, including the key element of continuity of care

  • Completion of Core Sedation training as part of orientation in order to assist with conscious sedation outpatient procedures

  • Float between OFMS and Epilepsy Clinics

REQUIREMENTS

  • Active WA State or Multi-State RN License by start date

  • Minimum 2 years of acute or ambulatory care experience including experience with wound care and sedation

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations, including patients with mental health and substance use disorders, and understanding their unique challenges
