We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician/Building Engineer to serve as a roaming maintenance professional supporting properties throughout the greater Milwaukee area. This position acts as a primary responder for urgent, on-demand service requests while also providing coverage across Founders 3 properties for vacations, staffing gaps, and temporary assignments during hiring transitions.


This role will also support onboarding of new properties, including assisting with transitions from other management companies or development groups. The technician will document and maintain logs of on-site mechanical systems and perform routine site responsibilities, including property monitoring, inspections, and coordination of maintenance programs.


At times you will be responsible for organizing and managing preventative maintenance, repairs, and overall system operations, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other building systems for site specific locations.

Technical & Hands-On Duties

  • Manage a flexible schedule while responding to on-demand service requests from property managers and service administrators
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, carpentry, and other building systems
  • Oversee and support site-specific preventative maintenance programs
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations (e.g., no heat, flooding, power outages)

Operational & Leadership Support

  • Conduct regular property walkthroughs and identify maintenance needs or deficiencies
  • Create and maintain detailed logs of building mechanical systems
  • Assist with onboarding and transitioning new properties into management
  • Support vendor management, including obtaining bids, contract coordination, and cost control
  • Assist with maintenance budgeting and inventory management
  • Maintain clear communication with property managers, staff, ownership groups, and boards
  • Complete reports and documentation as required
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong technical abilities, is highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building operations, engineering, or maintenance
  • 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • HVAC systems (including boilers, heat pumps, cooling towers, air handlers)
    • Plumbing, electrical, and building automation systems
    • Life safety, fire protection, and security systems
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and prioritizing effectively
  • Proficient with basic computer applications and maintenance reporting systems
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Willingness to work on-call, weekends, and after-hours as needed
