What does a Temporary Document Review Attorney do?

A Temporary Document Review Attorney is a licensed lawyer hired on a short-term basis to review and analyze legal documents, usually as part of litigation, investigations, or regulatory matters. Their primary responsibilities include identifying relevant information, marking documents for privilege or confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with legal discovery requirements. They often work with specialized software to manage large volumes of documents and may collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals in fast-paced environments. This role is common in law firms, corporate legal departments, and legal staffing agencies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Temporary Document Review Attorney, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temporary Document Review Attorney, you need a Juris Doctor degree, active bar admission, and a solid understanding of legal procedures and privilege concepts. Familiarity with e-discovery platforms such as Relativity, Concordance, or Everlaw is typically required. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines are essential soft skills. These competencies ensure accurate document review, compliance with legal standards, and timely completion of large-scale litigation or investigation projects.
