Position Summary
TheDepartment of Psychology is seeking qualified temporary, part-time faculty.Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis, with positions filledbased on budget availability, course enrollment, and departmental needs.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to:
  • Teaching and facilitating undergraduate psychology courses.
  • Preparing, administering, and grading assignments, quizzes, midterm examinations, and final examinations.
  • Developing, updating, and maintaining course materials and instructional content.
  • Coordinating course activities, including class schedules and examinations, as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and submitting grades in accordance with University policies and deadlines.
  • Holding scheduled office hours and responding to student inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assessing student learning outcomes and participating in departmental assessment activities, as appropriate.
  • Performing other instructional duties and responsibilities consistent with the position.

Facultyare responsible for all aspects of the courses they teach, including meetingwith classes during assigned times, delivering course content, developing andgrading assignments, submitting final grades, and assessing student learningoutcomes as outlined by the department.
  • Teachingassignments are based on departmental needs and are subject to change.

Appointment Information:
  • Appointmentsare contingent upon departmental need each semester, as determined by studentenrollment, the current course offering schedule, and instructional demanddriven by graduation requirements.

  • Summer 2027: April 15, 2027
  • Fall 2028: June 15, 2028

Qualifications
To teach courses as described above are determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met by one of these ways:
1. Master's Degree or higher in Psychology or subfield for which you are applying;
Or
Master's degree or higher in a field other than Psychology that is related to the position for which you are applying;
Or
Successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying (i.e. BA or BS degree for example).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years professional experience in the specialization or subfield
  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institution
  • Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
  • Successful experience teaching courses using a variety of teaching modalities (such as Face-to-Face, Remote, and Fully Online)
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
