Long-Term Temporary Position

$20 Per Hour Plus Benefits

Location: Miami, Florida

About the Opportunity:

An established Miami, Florida employee benefits consulting, insurance, and administration company is seeking a Database Analyst to join its Fixed Cost Division. This position plays a critical role in supporting employee benefits programs, database management, reporting, systems development, and technical workflow processes.

The Database Analyst will work closely with management, account managers, producers, vendors, and clients to support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of reporting systems, databases, and business processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Microsoft Access, Excel, VBA, SQL, and database development experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, analytical environment.

Position Summary:

The Database Analyst focuses on various technical aspects of the day-to-day business processes, including the development of new reports and procedures as well as the maintenance of existing reports and procedures.

The Database Analyst develops, assesses, and analyzes business and system database needs, explores alternative options, and provides consulting services to management. The Analyst prepares high-level and detailed technical specifications, ERD diagrams, and workflow diagrams.

The Database Analyst works collaboratively with the management team to determine the best mix of development, interfacing applications, and solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives. Typical project scope includes small to large database development projects as well as maintenance of existing databases.

This role places a strong emphasis on Microsoft Access Database experience, VBA and SQL knowledge, and the implementation of systems solutions that benefit the business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Group Implementations

The Database Analyst works closely with the Producer and Account Manager during the implementation phase of new groups.

Participates in the initial implementation meeting and provides feedback regarding implementation timelines for various technical workflow processes.

Reviews the final cost breakdown associated with the group's benefits program and saves it in the appropriate folder.

Codes the new group in the system so the Account Management team can produce Benefit Summary Reports (BSRs), invoices, eligibility files, and other required reports.

Creates the initial billing documentation when automation is unavailable.

Participates in post-implementation meetings with the division.

Ongoing Client Responsibilities:

Prepares and maintains Monthly Totals Reports.

Updates and distributes Sirius Reports to relevant vendors.

Captures benefit structure changes and ensures updates are reflected in backend systems and reports.

Manages the database and incorporates timely updates regarding benefit structure changes, including:

  • Network fee updates
  • Premium increases
  • Benefit removals
  • Other plan modifications

Updates cost breakdowns during the renewal process.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

Creates reports requested during client audits.

Conducts division data reviews and accounting data reviews prior to report generation.

Monitors and captures enrollment and benefit adjustments in relevant reports.

Communicates benefit adjustments to Accounting and assists with QuickBooks reconciliations.

Responsible for reviewing the annual Ceded Risk Analysis.

Responsible for aggregating and processing data relevant to annual 1094/1095-C IRS filings.

Coordinates with Account Managers to obtain required data from clients and payroll vendors.

Sends filing data to the designated filing vendor in the required format.

Educates and trains team members on technical tools, systems, and processes.

Qualifications:

High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Microsoft Access Developer experience

Experience with Excel spreadsheet development and analysis

Relational database design experience, including unique identifiers and relational table creation

VBA knowledge and application

Advanced reporting experience

Ability to create complex IF statements and calculated fields

Ability to create macros

Knowledge of importing and linking various data sources, including Excel and Access

SQL knowledge

Experience writing procedures

Experience manipulating data within Excel and other file formats to prepare data for Access databases

Extensive experience with database technologies

Ability to learn and demonstrate an understanding of employee benefits insurance terminology, products, and services

Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods of time

Work is performed predominantly in an office environment

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field required.

Experience:

1 to 3 years of experience in Database Administration, Information Technology, Database Architecture, or a related field preferred.
