LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a mission?driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Controller on a temp?to?perm basis to oversee accounting operations and financial reporting. This role will partner closely with senior leadership, provide hands?on accounting support, and help strengthen financial controls, reporting, and processes as the organization continues to grow.
Job Title: Controller

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and revenue recognition
• Manage month end and year end close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
• Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
• Oversee audits, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of supporting schedules
• Monitor grant, contract, and restricted funding to ensure proper tracking and compliance
• Develop, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Partner with leadership to support financial planning, strategy, and decision making
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, with opportunity to build and develop the team
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• CPA preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a nonprofit or regulated environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation
• Hands on systems experience with accounting software and advanced Excel
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, manage deadlines, and adapt to evolving priorities
