Title: Plumbing Repairman Contractor
Department: Maintenance
Immediate Supervisor: Maintenance Supervisor or Designee
Job Goal: The repair and maintenance and/or installation of all plumbing facilities of the school district.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participate in all plumbing repair work performed by district personnel.
2. Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
3. Determine which repair job may be performed by plumbers, custodians, and maintenance workers on the staff and which must be performed by outside contractors, and to advise the maintenance supervisor accordingly.
4. Estimate costs of plumbing repair projects in terms of labor, material, and overhead.
5. Maintenance of waste disposal systems, and similar plumbing related installations.
6. Procure supplies and equipment for purchases, and maintain the inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and supplies.
7. Review plumbing plans for new construction and renovation projects, when requested to do so, and make recommendations.
8. Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purpose of preventive maintenance.
9. Conduct In-service for the district maintenance and building supervisors on preventive maintenance techniques.
10. Keep immediate supervisor advised, at all times, of activities and progress.
11. On 24-hour call, available at any emergency due to a plumbing related breakdown.
12. Operate backhoe, trenchers, and similar equipment.
13. Comply with all relevant local, state, and national building and safety codes.
Length of Contract: Two hundred forty-five (245) contract days.
Salary commensurate with experience on the negotiated agreement of the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Maintenance Supervisor in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies, state law, and the negotiated agreement with the Support Employees of Edmond (SEE).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Oklahoma Contractor Plumbing License
Bondable and furnish Bond upon employment and keep in force during employment.
Valid drivers license and a driving record that is acceptable to the school's insurance carrier.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.
REASONING SKILLS:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as a tool box. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 lbs such as motors. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and air compressors. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays and non-household dust. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will work in a loud area.
