Job description

Overview

The Construction Engineer I supports the project team by processing, maintaining, and updating logs, instructions, and submittals necessary to construct the project on time, within budget, and to the quality specified by customer goals and needs. This role will sit primarily on the job site, with occasional travel to offices for training, meetings, etc.   

Responsibilities
  • Ensures contract document logs are maintained and updated as needed 
  • Accurately processes and distributes submittals and RFIs  
  • Maintains material inventory logs for self-perform scopes  
  • Utilizes construction management platforms to support field reporting, labor tracking, and equipment logs  
  • Participates in and writes notes, instructions, or minutes from meetings that clearly communicate discussion agreements, decisions, and action  
  • Seeks to understand customer goals and needs by proactively and consistently looking for ways to support them 
  • Ensures planned deadlines are met  
  • Develops industry relationships and expands professional networks that have potential to generate opportunities for Next 150 
  • Assists in coordinating the field execution of self-perform work, supporting craft labor operations, material logistics, equipment deployment, and field productivity tracking to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient project delivery

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Construction Management or similar field 
  • 0-1 years with a large trade contractor, construction management, or general contractor organization  
  • OSHA 10-hour certified required; OSHA 30-hour preferred 
  • Estimating experience and union experience is preferred but not required 
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Continually seeks to understand customer goals and needs while acting with a sense of urgency to meet customer needs 
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment  
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs Some knowledge of commercial/institutional construction project  
  • Knowledge of construction management software
