Summary of the role:


Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Construction Assistant will assist Solar Installation Supervisors in all aspects of PV installations on rooftops, multifamily structures, and commercial projects. As a Construction Assistant, you will play a crucial role in transforming lives by providing clean energy solutions for income-qualified communities.ย 


What you will be doing (essential responsibilities):


THIS IS A ONE WEEK TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT located at project: Richland Village project atย 470 Bernard DR. Yuba City, CAย 


  • Conduct site visits to screen potential sites for solar access and safety concernsย 
  • Conduct energy efficiency auditsย 
  • Pull permits in various cities for projectsย 
  • Assist on-site on installations of solar electric systems with crews of volunteers and/or job traineesย 
  • Assist installation supervisors in loading and unloading equipmentย 
  • Make equipment pickups and handle receivingย 
  • Participate in design and installation meetingsย 
  • Compile project documentation for pre/post installationย 
  • Project commissioning: ensuring that all systems are installed, tested, evaluated for performance, and interconnected according to the requirementsย 
  • Help maintain job site safety by identifying hazards, ensuring workers have necessary equipment, conducting regular inspections, and planning for emergencies.ย 
  • Lead warehouse inventory management and organizationย 
  • Other job duties include hardware store runs, answering homeowner and volunteer questions, and generally participating in activities vital to make solar happen for income-qualified communities/familiesย 
  • Treat clients, contractors, and co-workers, and members of the public with kindness and respect
  • Comply with all company policies, including company safety policy




Requirements

Your areas of knowledge and expertise...


  • Experience in solar/general construction skillsย 
  • Excellent communication skills (Proven ability to work with and communicate well with diverse groups)ย 
  • Ability to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to work on PV installationsย 
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlย 
  • Ability to lift, move, transport, position, put, install or remove equipment up to 50lbsย 
  • Ability to be exposed to outdoor work environments and weather conditionsย 
  • Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, focus and contributeย 
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as neededย 
  • Must have a valid driver's license with no history of serious traffic violations, accidents, or points on their recordย 
  • Willingness to travel to sites throughout the region (some travel outside the region may be needed)ย 
  • General digital literacy in Microsoft Office, Google Suiteย

Compensation:


The compensation range for this fulltime position is ย $24.00. The base pay that will actually be offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, experience and take into account internal equity.ย

Where you will sit & the places you may go...


The ideal candidate will sit in the Sacramento, CA office-ON-SITE @ Richland Village project atย 470 Bernard DR. Yuba City, CA ย ย This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as org-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.ย ย ย
