General Description
The Orange County Asset Management Services Department has an opening for a Temporary Meeting Assistant. The work involves the responsibility for setting up meetings and other events and assisting staff and residents during meetings/events. This includes setting up rooms as requested, including setting up and taking down tables and chairs, ensuring bathrooms and meeting spaces are clean, ensuring compliance with proper waste and recycling rules, and ensuring that A/V technology is functional.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Administrative Officer with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding customer needs and requests and conducting project assignments. Supervision over others is not required of this position. Position does related work as required.
The position requires a maximum of 15 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, including evenings.

Examples of Essential Functions
Following are examples of typical work activities and responsibilities. The incumbent may be responsible for performing other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned. A position may not include all the work examples given, nor does the list include all that may be assigned.
Opens, closes and oversees events at facilities as assigned.
Sets up and takes down tables, chairs, or other furniture as needed.
Tests AV equipment to be sure all A/V equipment is in working order.
Provides janitorial support for facilities restrooms which includes: mopping, sweeping, trash removal; restocking toilet paper, paper towels, and soap dispensers; cleaning toilets and other restroom fixtures.
Monitors and assists facility rental groups.
Provides customer service to all customers using facilities and maintains relationships with customers.
Ensures rooms, and facility exteriors are in neat and orderly before or after events.
Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments.
Adheres to the department's safety rules and regulations.
Full Performance of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Skill in providing excellent customer service.
Ability to set up rooms including moving, setting up and taking down tables and chairs.
Ability to relate well with others under stressful conditions.
Ability to understand, follow and complete oral and written instructions.
Special Requirements
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
All offers of employment are conditioned upon successful clearance of a background check. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND POSSIBLE HAZARD
Ability to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Ability to set up rooms, including setting up and taking down chairs and tables and moving furniture when applicable.
Must possess the visual acuity to operate a passenger vehicle, prepare and analyze data and figures, inspect parts, use measurement devices and operate a computer terminal.
