About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Colorist to join our Gore Fabrics Ingredients Business Unit (IBU) & Sitka Gear. This role is a unique 50/50 commitment supporting both businesses. The color and shade expertise provided by this position is critical to ensuring our products meet customer and end-user needs, delivering protection and comfort in the most demanding conditions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing color leadership and technical expertise to ensure robust, high-quality shade performance across our Ingredient and Sitka product portfolios. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow both their expertise and influence as the team continues to evolve.
This role is onsite at one of our facilities in Elkton, Maryland.
Pay and Benefits:
  • $75,000 - $80,000 per year

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert color support including daily color evaluation & assessment on both commercial and new products
  • Evaluate, review & approve lab dips to ensure alignment with established color standards
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams as the main interface for the Gore Ingredient/Sitka businesses on all color-related technical information including providing key color input for quality support and core business processes
  • Establish & maintain color standards and provide technical support with raw material suppliers, Gore, and external partners where appropriate
  • Manage & maintain color management databases & PLM ensuring color specifications, test results & approvals are all documented
  • Manage workflow and priorities within a daily and weekly schedule
  • Educate Internal & External customers on Color Development process

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the Textile Industry and/or color-related field
  • Comprehensive understanding of color development, color theory & color evaluation technologies
  • Strong technical knowledge of Colorfastness testing, methods & standards
  • High color acuity with an ability to successfully pass the Farnsworth Munsell Industry Standard Requirement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence customers, suppliers, and key internal stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize & manage multiple projects or customer support activities simultaneously
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs and global customer requirements
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams & external partners
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment with multiple business expectations
  • Ability to travel 10%

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Textile/Fabric color industry or a related field
  • Experience working with the Government/Defense Industry
  • Experience with color management software and spectrophotometers

This role requires pre-hire medical clearance by Gore which may include testing to assess visual acuity and/or the ability to wear specific safety equipment as required during the performance of the role.
This position requires access to export-controlled areas and information. Candidates must be "U.S. persons" as that term is defined in 8 USC §1324b(a)(3).
