Are you a detail-oriented Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) who is passionate about accuracy, compliance, and improving patient care? We are seeking an experienced Medical Coder to join our Patient Accounts team.

In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring accurate medical coding, billing compliance, and timely claim submission while partnering with providers to improve documentation and reimbursement. If you thrive in a collaborative healthcare environment and enjoy solving coding challenges, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do:

  • Review electronic medical records (EMRs) to ensure documentation supports appropriate Evaluation & Management (E/M), ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
  • Verify medical necessity, coding accuracy, modifiers, and payer information before releasing encounters for billing.
  • Communicate documentation deficiencies to providers and provide education to improve coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with physicians, Patient Accounts, and Information Technology teams to resolve coding, billing, and documentation issues.
  • Review provider task queues and coding worklists daily to ensure timely processing.
  • Reconcile unbilled encounter reports and resolve outstanding billing issues.
  • Stay current with coding guidelines, payer regulations, and industry updates to maintain coding credentials.
  • Assist with training new team members and support ongoing provider education initiatives.
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC), CPC-A, Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential.
  • Minimum of three years of recent medical coding and/or charge billing experience (within the last four years), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) and practice management systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Family Practice coding experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced outpatient healthcare environment.
