Orientation Sign Up for GW Lisk's Advanced Manufacturing Machinist Training Program
Orientation is scheduled for Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 9:00am. You need to apply / pre-register and speak with a member of our HR team prior to orientation. At orientation, we will provide you with an in-depth overview of GW Lisk Company, the Advanced Manufacturing Machinist Training Program, what you will learn and the expectations of you as an employee and trainee, question and answer session, a tour of our high-tech machining departments, and ending with an interview. Hiring decisions will be made shortly after orientation.

Here's what you need to know:
  • We're hiring now! You can start as early as August in one of our machine shop or assembly departments.
  • The training program runs from September to March. Once it starts, you'll train Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM, take a lunch break, then return to your department for the rest of your shift.
  • From day one, you'll receive full pay and benefits-no unpaid training here.
  • After you complete the program in March 2027, you'll be promoted to Machinist, with continued support for your growth and a clear career path ahead.

CNC Machinists perform set-up, dimensional inspection, and production operating tasks for a variety of equipment, including live-tool lathes, Swiss lathes, grinders, EDMs, mills, and machining centers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidates must:
    • Be dependable with excellent attendance.
    • Thrive in a fast paced work environment.
    • Demonstrate strong inter-personal skills while working in a team based environment.
    • Have strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Be able to work on their feet, lift up to 40 pounds, and work overtime on an as-needed basis.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Setting up CNC equipment with limited supervision, including prove-outs of new processes and all adjustments required to obtain an approved First Article Inspection Report.
    • Full dimensional inspections, including lengths, diameters, radii, finishes, and all positional and geometric requirements, both for First Article preparation and in process inspection.
    • Running production quantities while maintaining process capability as well as meeting productivity standards.
    • Trouble-shooting and process improvements during both setup and production.
    • Working with teammates to ensure the team meets shared objectives.
    • Performing routine maintenance of equipment.
    • Using software tools to manage tooling inventory, review standards, collect SPC and capture job performance data.
    • Keeping the team's work area clean and free from safety hazards.

Compensation: Starting pay for the training program is $17.50 - $18.50 per hour
