Job description

Temporary Parks Program Assistant

Hourly Rate: $18.75-$19.75 per hour

Hours:Flexible hours & days Monday-Friday, shift hours between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Generally 9 a.m -2 p.m.); 5-10 hours per week

Location: Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 East Smith St, Kent, WA 98030

DUTIES:

Work related to a recreation community center which includes professional telephone technique & etiquette, customer service, operating a cash register, providing program registration (computer/phone/walk-in/mail in), assist in supervision of the facility, provide customer information, assist facility users, clerical support, and perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Experience in customer service, communication skills, cash handling, professional phone skills, and recreation and/or public relations experience.

Or:In place of the above requirement, the incumbent may possess any combination of relevant education and experience which would demonstrate the individual's knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.The incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a typical office environment. May be exposed to customers, contractors, and vendors/suppliers who may possibly be irate or hostile. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Temporary employees with the City of Kent do not receive insurance or time off benefits outside of those which are legally mandated. In certain instances, temporary employees may be eligible for retirement benefits through the State of Washington's Department of Retirement Systems.
