Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU/PICU Transport position requiring flight or mobile transfer experience along with active OR and WA/Compact RN licenses.

Details
  • >Children's hospital-based NICU/PICU Transport team consisting of one RN and one RT per shift
  • Transports neonatal and pediatric patients from outside facilities requiring a higher level of care throughout Oregon and SW Washington
  • Transport is conducted by ground, air (fixed-wing), or rotor depending on the transfer
  • Team also provides contracted transport services between partner facility sites and covers for other transport teams when needed
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:30-07:00
  • Weekend requirement: minimum of every 3rd weekend, with occasional extra weekend shifts as needed
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Flight training provided during orientation through a specialized vendor contract
Requirements
  • >Active OR RN license and WA/Compact RN license required prior to starting (temporary Oregon license may be available if needed)
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a fully oriented neonatal/pediatric transport RN with strong NICU/PICU skills
  • Flight and/or mobile transfer experience required for consideration
  • 2+ years of pediatric transport experience preferred
  • BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Strong respiratory skills including ventilator management, intubation assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
  • Experience with emergency medications including vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and continuous sedation
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line and central line management
  • Experience with cardiovascular monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • One professional reference from a Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Manager required, preferably within the last year
  • No felony convictions accepted
Additional Information
  • >Provide transport care for neonatal and pediatric patients guided by physician direction between facilities
  • Complete flight training as part of orientation through the facility's LifeFlight training vendor
  • Scrubs provided for this pediatric transport role; any color except black and camo required for other units
  • Free parking available in any unrestricted space
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
  • Candidates may not reside within 50 miles of any Legacy facility
  • Local candidates are not accepted for this position
  • Former staff must be separated from the facility/system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers with qualifying transport experience may be considered
