General Fitness Exam The General Fitness Exam will consist of an on-line multiple choice examination assessing fundamental knowledge for the position. Applicants must receive a passing score on the General Fitness examination to be placed on the year-long eligibility list.

The top 3 ranks (scores) on the eligibility list are eligible for the hiring interview for each vacancy in this classification within the life of the list. BASIC POSITION FUNCTION Under supervision, to prepare and serve foods in a cafeteria, serving kitchen, or central food production center; to maintain child nutrition facilities in a clean and sanitary condition; to do related work as required.Prepares vegetables, fruits, and other foods for cooking; prepares salads, desserts, sandwiches, and beverages; May assist in the preparation of main dishes for cooking or in baking pastries and breads; Sets up for serving and serves a wide variety of lunches and snacks to students, faculty members, and other persons; Collects monies and makes change for the sale of school lunches, snacks, and other food stuffs; Cleans and stores dishes, utensils, cafeteria equipment and food supplies; Cleans work areas and disposes of refuse; Assists with packing and loading of food for transport from a central food distribution facility to serving kitchen; Prepares change boxes prior to the selling of food; records inventory and order data.Experience: None required. Education: Persons with the experience, knowledge and abilities as stated are considered to have the necessary education.Knowledge of: Methods of preparing sandwiches, salads, desserts, and related food items; Sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance; Basic kitchen utensils and equipment.

Ability to: Learn to operate machines found in school cafeterias and food production areas; Understand and carry out oral and written directions; Count money and make change; Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work; Perform some heavy manual labor.
