Job description

Job Title: Fabricator
Job Description

The candidate will primarily engage in MIG welding and fabricating various metals. Schooling or on-the-job experience in both is required.

Responsibilities

  • Product fabrication including gates, posts, brackets, etc.
  • Installation of fencing and gates.
  • Frequent operation of plasma machine.
  • General structural and mechanical maintenance.
  • Work primarily from the factory but must be flexible to travel to sites for remedial work for extended periods, up to two weeks.
  • Operate various machines including press brake, plasma cutter, lathe, mill, drill press, MIG and stick welder, bandsaw, and various power tools.
Essential Skills
  • General mechanical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of plasma machines.
  • Skilled in MIG, stick, and TIG welding.
  • Ability to read blueprints and execute requirements.
  • Capability to work with layouts and developments.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a fabricator/boilermaker.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Competency in the use of Excel, Word, and Office.
  • Ability to take initiative and find solutions to specific problems.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Trustworthy and reliable.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with carbon steel and aluminum fabrication preferred.
  • Experience manufacturing products for the defense or government contracting industry.
  • Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent).
  • Experience fabricating fencing systems, gates, or structural frames.
  • Familiarity with quality inspections and documentation.
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience.

Work Environment

Work in a metal/fab shop that is not climate controlled, experiencing cold in winter and heat in summer, with fans and bay doors for air flow.

This is a Contract position based out of Fredericksburg, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
