Characteristic Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, evening, and/or weekends. Under the supervision of the Dean, MCT Pathway, to plan and teach related and shop activities in the welding curriculum to include the areas of layout, blueprint reading, fabrication, oxy-fuel welding and cutting, shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux-core arc welding with self and gas shielded wires, inspection and testing, and welding math.
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program/department evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance.
- Advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program/department area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program/department, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to promote educational opportunities at MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program/department evaluation and follow-up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Minimum Educational Requirements: MUST have at least one of the following to be considered:
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field OR;
- 10 years(20,000 hours) of Welding experience OR;
- Have a state approved registered apprenticeship in one of the following areas: steamfitter, boilermaker, sheet metal, millwright, machine repair or ironworker.
Minimum Occupational Experience Requirement:Must have 4 years (8,000 hours) of total work experience in Welding:
- Oxy-fuel welding and cutting
- Shielded metal arc welding, all positions
- Gun, tungsten arc welding of aluminum, steel, and stainless-steel material; plasma cutting
- Flux-core arc welding with self-shielded and gas shielded wires in any diameters
- Gas metal arc welding with any diameter solid wire, including pulsed arc transfer
- Read blue-prints and set up parts
- Interpret welding requirement from symbols on blueprints
- Quality control experience
- Inspection and testing
- Use welding codes and procedures
In addition to the above minimum requirements, at least one
of the following must be met:- At least one (1) total year of work experience must have occurred within the last five years, OR;
- At least two (2) total years of teaching Welding (see above) course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years. (One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent to two (2) semesters full-time of four (4) semesters part-time
Industry or Vendor Certification: One of the following will be required within
two (2) years of employment start date:
American Welding Society (AWS)
- Certified Welding Educator (CWE)
- Certified Welding Inspector (CW
Preferred but not required to have the following:

Supplemental InformationStart Date: This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation Pathway and is available to start in the
Fall 2025 academic semester; 16-week courses start mid-August. Job Details: This is a part-time pool position and will require teaching courses at MATC campuses.
Must have availability to begin teaching on site no later than 4:30 pm during the week.Hours and location are based on enrollment and departmental need each semester.
Modality is fully in-person.
Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited
Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.

Employee Benefits at a Glance - PART-TIME FACULTY/EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT- Part-time employees pay a higher percentage of the premium than full-time employees.
HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types:

DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.
Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.
GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.
RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.
SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave is earned based on one times the weekly workload per semester. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.
