Job description

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field investigations and perform failure/accident analysis on incidents involving all types of vehicles and mechanical equipment and their impact on the human body
  • Conduct research and forensic investigations in the areas of impact biomechanics, occupant protection, ergonomics, workplace safety, and/or medical devices
  • Conduct vehicular accident reconstruction analyses
  • Evaluate bodily injuries inflicted by machinery, automobiles, mechanical equipment or slip/trip and falls
  • Apply engineering principles in accordance with industry standards to investigation analysis
  • Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
  • Prepare and submit written reports, documenting findings and results when requested
  • Explain to clients, in layman's terms, your investigation, analysis and findings
  • Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
  • Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company-paid educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
  • Develop and maintain client relations


Position Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited school
  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomechanics or similar
  • Education or training in Impact Biomechanics
  • Minimum of three years, 5+ years preferred, of post-academic engineering work experience
  • P. E. registration through testing or ability to obtain
  • Public speaking experience a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time, with potential to increase post-training
  • Ability to maneuver in and around job/incident sites
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to carry/transport equipment to and from job/incident sites
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to drive in all conditions
  • Ability to fly on airplanes
  • Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the job/incident site
  • Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
  • Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
  • Regular and predictable presence at work
