Job description

Position Summary: The Laborer is hardworking and reliable to the bricklaying team by supporting residential and commercial projects across the District of Columbia. They are responsible for preparing job sites, handling materials, assisting bricklayers to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently. Laborers also act as Flaggers on roadway projects, safely directing vehicles through temporary traffic patterns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Site Preparation: Set up and take down scaffolding, ladders, and work platforms according to OSHA safety standards.
  • Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport bricks, cinder blocks, mortar, stone, and other materials.
  • Assist Skilled Laborers as needed.
  • Hand & Power Tools: Use measuring tools, small hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Mortar Preparation: Mix mortar and grout to the correct consistency using mechanical mixers or hand tools.
  • Tool Maintenance: Clean and maintain masonry tools (e.g., trowels, joins, saws) and equipment (e.g., mixers, wheelbarrows) at the end of each shift.
  • Bracing & Cutting: Assist in cutting bricks or stones to size using power saws or hammers and help install bracing to support fresh masonry.
  • Site Safety: Maintain a clean and hazardfree job site by removing debris and organizing materials to prevent accidents. Wear and maintain required PPE. Report hazards or unsafe conditions to the Foreman.
  • Perform duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • No previous experience required.
  • Valid unexpired state identification or driver's license.
  • Displays a positive attitude and able to follow directions.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and construction industry standards.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual speaker proficient in English and Spanish
  • Experience with construction equipment and masonry tools
  • Able to pass a background check for assignments at secured facilities and properties.
  • Knowledge of commercial masonry operations and materials
  • Familiarity with concrete mixer operations and maintenance
  • Reliable transportation to work as scheduled

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
