Job description

About the Position:Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an TOOLMAKER INSPECTOR without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common fabricating, modification, and inspection on fabricated items and assemblies for proper build-up and application of materials. I can fabricate, modify, and repair molds, tools, dies and instrument parts. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Ability to Inspect - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Majority of the time is spent standing and walking around. Required to stoop, bend and reach, climb and frequently handles objects weighing 10 pounds and occasionally objects up to 45 pounds. Hoist, hand trucks, lifts and other workers are available to assist with heavier items.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works is normally performed in a well-lighted, heated, ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noises, moving machinery and fumes. Possible danger to the skin and eyes from flying metal chips, abrasive particles, and hot metal; possibility of skin irritations from contact with coolants, lubricants, and abrasive compounds; danger to fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from sharp edges of tools, equipment and machinery. Wears safety glasses, safety shoes and other safety apparel and equipment. Workers are subjected to the usual dirt and noise of machine shop activities.Education:Employment Type: OTHER
