Position: Quality Control Scientist II / Analytical Chemist

Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to support manufacturing operations through analytical testing, documentation, and continuous improvement activities. The role involves performing laboratory testing, maintaining accurate records, supporting investigations, and ensuring compliance with laboratory procedures and quality standards within a chemistry or bio/pharmaceutical environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fit-for-purpose testing in support of manufacturing, including in-line and finished product release testing using various analytical techniques.
- Prepare standards and samples for analysis and operate instrumentation with minimal supervision.
- Document and report analytical testing data in LIMS and laboratory notebooks in accordance with good documentation practices.
- Assist with out-of-specification (OOS) investigations by conducting relevant testing and maintaining proper documentation.
- Recommend opportunities to optimize instrumentation methods and provide feedback for overall process improvements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping and organization.
- Lift and move materials up to 40 lbs as required.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field from an accredited university.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant industry experience (2 years preferred), ideally within the chemistry or bio/pharmaceutical industry.
- Hands-on experience with wet chemistry and basic analytical instrumentation preferred.
- Familiarity with analytical test methods such as ACS, USP/NF, EP/BP, JP, and FCC preferred.
- Strong computer proficiency, scientific aptitude, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience reviewing laboratory notebooks and understanding analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation.
- Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills using Lean methodologies.
- Ability to identify and contribute to cost-saving and process improvement initiatives.
