Job description

Temple University's Athletics Department is searching for an Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Head Women's Gymnastics Coach, the Assistant Coach assists in developing a Division I competitive Women's Gymnastics program. The primary function of the Assistant Coach is to teach student-athletes the sport of Women's Gymnastics. The Assistant Coach works primarily with beam and floor exercise. The Assistant Coach will evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes to Temple University whose athletic skills make the program highly competitive and whose academic abilities make them excellent candidates for a meaningful academic experience and for graduation from Temple University.
The Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach supports the Head Coach by upholding the program established by the Head Coach, including but not limited to creating, planning, organizing, motivating, communicating, and controlling aspects related to recruiting, practices, competitions, and related booster clubs. The Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach is expected to conduct themselves in a manner representative of the University, the Department, and the sport, both on and off the field of competition. The Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach is expected to be knowledgeable about and comply with NCAA regulatory policies governing their sport, as well as NCAA and conference policies governing recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least two years of previous gymnastics experience as a collegiate coach, level ten ("10") or elite level club coach, and/or collegiate student-athlete. Experience administering Division I NCAA rules. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred:
  • NCAA Division I experience.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching choreography.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and allocating a budget.
  • Demonstrated experience fundraising towards the achievement of program goals.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Software including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to assist with budgeting, scheduling, meal planning, coaching, recruiting, scouting, and purchasing and caring for equipment.
  • Ability to implement policies and guidelines for all Women's Gymnastics personnel and student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, strong leadership, and team- building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work a highly variable schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
