Job description

Travel Mammography Technologist - Illinois
$65/hr | Temporary W-2 Assignment | Monday-Friday Day Shift
VitalCheck is hiring an experienced Travel Mammography Technologist for a temporary W-2 assignment supporting mobile screening services in Illinois.

About the Role:
This role is for a qualified mammography professional who is independent, patient-focused, and experienced in performing high-quality 3D screening mammograms in a mobile setting.
All mammography services will be performed only through an MQSA-certified/accredited facility or mobile unit and in accordance with applicable facility protocols.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform 3D screening mammograms in accordance with MQSA standards, Illinois requirements, facility/mobile-unit protocols, and radiation safety standards.
  • Complete daily mammography quality control according to facility protocol.
  • Review images for technical quality and positioning before submission.
  • Transmit studies securely and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant clinical workspace.
  • Provide a professional, patient-centered experience.
  • Support onsite screening workflow, including patient check-in, documentation, schedule flow, and daily operational communication.

Compliance note: This role does not include diagnosis, image interpretation, prescribing, determining medical necessity, or directing physician/radiologist clinical judgment.
Requirements:
  • Active ARRT RT(R)(M) certification.
  • Active Status Accreditation from IEMA-OHS in Medical Radiation Technology, Medical Radiography category, before performing mammography services in Illinois.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of screening mammography experience.
  • Documented 3D/tomosynthesis experience.
  • Ability to work independently in a mobile setting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to support patient-facing coordination duties as needed.
  • Ability to provide required MQSA documentation before the start date and before independently performing mammography services.

Credentialing Requirement:
Candidates must already be fully credentialed and MQSA-qualified before beginning this assignment.
No employee may independently perform mammography services until VitalCheck and/or the applicable MQSA-certified facility has verified all required credentials, training, and documentation, including ARRT RT(R)(M), IEMA-OHS Active Status Accreditation, BLS, MQSA documentation, modality training, and continuing-experience documentation.
This assignment cannot train, qualify, or document candidates into mammography eligibility.
MQSA Documentation Required
Candidates must provide documentation of:
  • At least 200 mammograms performed in the prior 24 months.
  • At least 15 mammography CEUs in the prior 36 months.
  • At least 8 hours of initial Digital Breast Tomosynthesis training before performing DBT mammography.

Assignment Locations
This role will support mobile screening sites across Illinois, subject to assignment needs and final scheduling:
Weeks 1-7: Springfield, IL
Weeks 8-11: Springfield / Sangamon County
Week 12: Champaign-Urbana
Week 13: Chicago Metro / Cook County
Pay, Travel, and Benefits:
Pay is $65.00/hour, W-2, non-exempt. Overtime will be paid as required by applicable federal, Illinois, and local law.
Lodging, meal/incidental per diem, and mileage reimbursement are provided for eligible travel under VitalCheck's written travel and expense policy.
This temporary W-2 assignment is not eligible for company-sponsored health, retirement, paid holiday, or company PTO benefits, except as required by applicable law or applicable benefit plan terms. Employees are covered by workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, payroll tax withholding, overtime laws, and applicable paid-leave laws.
Paid leave will accrue and may be used in accordance with applicable Illinois, Cook County, or Chicago paid-leave law, depending on the employee's work location and hours worked.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background screening, drug screening, credential verification, and client/facility compliance requirements, all conducted in accordance with applicable federal, Illinois, and local law.
