AI technology is increasingly used to assist medical coders by automating routine coding tasks, but it is unlikely to fully replace them in the near future. Medical coders bring expertise in interpreting complex clinical documentation and ensuring accurate coding, which AI tools currently complement rather than replace. Skilled human oversight remains essential for quality and compliance in medical coding roles.
