Job Summary

DPR Construction is seeking a Telecom Project Manager with a minimum of 7 years of telecommunications or commercial construction experience to join our data center division. The Telecom Project Manager will oversee the execution of telecommunications projects, ensuring subcontractor work is developed, implemented, and managed in accordance with DPR's safety, quality, and financial performance standards. This role focuses on data center telecommunications infrastructure, including structured cabling, fiber optics, outside plant (OSP) deployments, and low-voltage systems. The Project Manager will collaborate with clients, project teams, executives, regional leadership, and subcontractors, to deliver mission-critical projects on schedule, within budget, and to client specifications.

Responsibilities

Subcontractor Management: Oversee subcontractors, ensuring compliance with DPR's safety, quality, and scheduling standards. Provide guidance, monitor performance, and hold subcontractors accountable to meet project goals and objectives.

Project Execution and Workflow: Manage the full project lifecycle from kick-off to production turnover, ensuring timely execution of telecommunications infrastructure installations, including structured cabling, fiber optics, OSP, and network connectivity critical to data center operations. Create, maintain, and report on project scope, schedules, and milestones.

Cost and Financial Management: In collaboration with the project controls team, oversee cost control, billings, collections, change orders, cash flows, and monthly status reports. Review job cost postings for accuracy and provide periodic financial reporting to clients and management. Support forecasting and budget efforts, ensuring project profitability aligns with company goals.

Client Interface: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, alignment on project objectives, and customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Quality Assurance: Oversee that all quality standards are met in collaboration with the quality team and the installer, ensuring subcontractor work complies with DPR specifications, local codes, and project requirements. Verify physical installs and test reports (e.g., OTDR/OLTS for fiber optic testing) meet established standards.

Project Planning and Scheduling: Coordinate and manage the planning and scheduling of projects, working closely with subcontractors to establish and track milestones. Identify and mitigate project risks and high-priority issues through effective action and escalation.

Bid and Procurement Support: Participate in the bid process, assist with subcontractor selection, and ensure timely delivery and integration of materials and services.

Process Improvement: Develop and implement process improvements to enhance project efficiency, particularly in data center workflows such as cabling, network integration, and material logistics. Document lessons learned and coordinate with internal and external partners to support project management best practices.

Technical Oversight: Demonstrate detailed knowledge of telecommunications systems, including network/structure cabling and OSP deployments. Develop solutions for scope-gap or clash issues and support design reviews, BOM reviews, and as-built drawing validations.

Safety Leadership: Assist the safety team as needed to ensure subcontractors comply with local regulations and DPR's safety best practices. Promote a "safety first" culture and foster open communication to support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices.

Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with logistics partners, vendors, and suppliers to ensure a smooth flow of materials. Work with DPR's design and engineering teams to support technical reviews and ensure deliverables are met during new builds and retrofits.

Other Responsibilities: Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and company objectives.

Education: High School diploma or GED equivalency required; Bachelor's degree in construction management, telecommunications, electrical engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) and project management/scheduling software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, or similar). Familiarity with accounting cost management software (e.g., CMIC or similar) is a plus.

Leadership: Proven ability to manage subcontractors, foster team morale, and promote DPR's culture and mission to vendors, clients, and partners. Experience mentoring and guiding project teams for fast-paced growth.

Communication: Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills, with proven experience engaging and guiding stakeholders.

Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues, including scope clarification and technical challenges in telecommunications systems.

Organization: Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, define project scope, develop detailed tasks, and manage projects to completion and client turnover.
