Job description

Role: Telecom Engineer.

Location: New York, NY 10003 (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 Months Contract (Temp to Hire)

Shift: Monday to Friday Standard working hours.

Summary:

Serve as the dedicated Telecom/Fiber technical SME and project owner for a large-scale utility-grade fiber deployment connecting 100+ substations.

The engineer will own the technical approach from requirements gathering and fiber/network architecture through RFP/specification development, vendor coordination, field implementation, and system migration. Success will be measured by the ability to develop a consistent, scalable fiber architecture; establish clear technical specifications; effectively coordinate vendors and internal stakeholders; and support successful deployment and migration across the substation network.

Key priorities during the first 6–12 months include:

  • Fiber/network design and architecture
  • Development of technical specifications and RFP documentation
  • Vendor/contractor management and implementation coordination
  • Substation deployment coordination
  • System migration/integration

Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 3 years of fiber/telecommunications infrastructure experience, including large-scale network design or deployment
  • Utility/substation telecommunications experience with an understanding of substation communications and utility-grade infrastructure
  • Fiber network design, architecture, cable routing/arrangements, and infrastructure requirements
  • Technical specification/RFP development, vendor management, and large-scale project coordination
