Job description

Job Title: Senior Design Technology & CAD Systems Architect
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Design Technology & CAD Systems Architect to lead the strategic development, governance, and optimization of our enterprise design environments. You will be the primary technical authority for our design technology stack, serving as the bridge between engineering requirements, IT infrastructure, and project execution.
This role is for a design-tech strategist who can see the "big picture." You will not only manage the health and performance of our CAD platforms but also drive the digital transformation of how our teams design, collaborate, and manage project data. If you have a passion for automating workflows, building enterprise-grade standards, and mentoring the next generation of power users, this is an opportunity to shape our entire design ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
• Technology Roadmap: Define and lead our long-term design technology strategy. Act as the primary advisor on CAD workflows, innovation, and industry-standard best practices.
• Standards & Governance: Establish and enforce enterprise-wide CAD standards, naming conventions, and file-management policies. Conduct regular audits to ensure data consistency and quality across all project deliverables.
• Leadership: Mentor junior CAD administrators, develop "power user" cohorts, and act as a cross-functional liaison between design, IT, and external project partners.
Advanced Systems Administration
• Platform Lifecycle: Oversee the installation, configuration, and enterprise deployment of design software. Manage network licensing, cloud-based collaboration integrations, and system scalability.
• Customization & Automation: Design and implement advanced customizations and automation scripts (LISP, .NET, Python, etc.) to eliminate repetitive tasks and reduce error rates in design documentation.
• Troubleshooting: Serve as the final escalation point for complex system failures, coordinating with IT and vendors to ensure maximum platform uptime.
Integration & Data Management
• Data Strategy: Lead the CAD data management lifecycle, from file structure design to long-term archiving and retrieval.
• System Integration: Architect the integration of CAD platforms with enterprise systems such as PLM, BIM, or document management platforms. Ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility across globally distributed teams.
• Process Optimization: Identify and deploy digital transformation initiatives, promoting the adoption of new tools and BIM-integrated workflows across the organization.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience Baseline: Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in high-level design technology environments, with at least three (3) to five (5) years in a formal administration or leadership role.
• Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in CAD configuration, complex customization, and the development of enterprise-wide standards.
• Scripting Proficiency: Strong programming skills in languages relevant to the design-tech stack (e.g., AutoLISP, .NET, Python).
Preferred Attributes
• Proven success leading enterprise-scale technology standardization or digital transformation projects.
• Familiarity with Digital Twin concepts, PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), or BIM workflows.
• Strong "Consultative" mindset-you can translate complex design requirements into scalable, reliable technical solutions.
