About the role

The Revenue Cycle Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision and coordination of the medical billing team to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient revenue cycle operations. This is a working leadership position that combines hands-on revenue cycle responsibilities with team supervision, workflow management, employee development, and quality assurance.

The Revenue Cycle Supervisor works closely with the Revenue Cycle Manager to support departmental goals while promoting exceptional customer service, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

What you'll do
  • Assist the Revenue Cycle Manager with daily department operations.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring, guidance, coaching, and training to billing staff to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Coordinate daily workflows, assign priorities to ensure timely completion of billing activities, monitor employee productivity, accuracy, and quality standards.
  • Assist with staff training, and onboarding.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.
  • Monitor claims submission and ensure timely claim processing.
  • Review and oversee insurance follow-up, denials, appeals, and collections activities.
  • Monitor aging reports and identify opportunities to improve reimbursement.
  • Assist staff in resolving complex billing and payer issues.
  • Assist the Revenue Cycle Manager in achieving departmental goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of physician practice medical billing experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership, lead, or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • CPT
  • ICD-10-CM
  • HCPCS
  • Commercial insurance
  • Workers' Compensation
  • Insurance follow-up
  • Denial management
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with EMR and practice management systems.
Preferred
  • Orthopedic or surgical specialty billing experience.
  • Experience with Athena One or comparable practice management software.
  • Experience supervising physician practice revenue cycle operations.
