Job description

Job Title: Solar Technician – Utility Scale

Job Description

This role focuses on corrective maintenance and heavy electrical work on existing utility-scale solar arrays. You will ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of solar equipment by performing inspections, troubleshooting issues, and completing mechanical and electrical repairs in an outdoor environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective maintenance on existing utility-scale solar arrays to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Conduct heavy electrical work on solar equipment and associated systems in accordance with industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Inspect solar components and systems to identify potential issues, wear, or damage and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems on solar arrays and related equipment using established diagnostic methods.
  • Carry out mechanical tasks related to solar construction and maintenance, including assembly, adjustments, and component replacement.
  • Apply NFPA 70E safety practices during all electrical work to minimize risk and maintain a safe work site.
  • Utilize first aid, CPR, and AED training as needed to respond appropriately in emergency situations on site.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines, procedures, and regulatory requirements while working on solar installations.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions, remaining on your feet and moving throughout the shift to access equipment and work areas.
  • Document maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs clearly and accurately to support ongoing operations and compliance.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience performing corrective maintenance on existing solar arrays.
  • Strong background in heavy electrical work in an industrial or construction setting.
  • Mechanical skills applicable to solar construction and maintenance activities.
  • Electrical skills with a solid understanding of solar power systems and components.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed inspections of solar and electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in solar installations.
  • NFPA 70E certification, with the ability to apply electrical safety standards in the field.
  • Valid First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • Ability and commitment to adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Comfort working outdoors in the elements for the entire shift, including standing and moving continuously.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on utility-scale solar projects or in solar construction environments.
  • Familiarity with general construction practices and tools used in solar installations.
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset when working with electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a field-based maintenance team.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
