Job description

Ascension St. Vincent is actively recruiting a board-certified or board-eligible intensivist or cardiologist to join our nationally recognized and high-acuity Cardiac Intensive Care Unit team.

About the Institution

Ascension St. Vincent is a leading tertiary referral center and home to one of the Midwest’s most advanced heart failure and transplant programs. Our campus is known for clinical excellence, innovation, and a mission-driven approach to patient care.

Position Overview

This role provides overnight coverage for our 24-bed CCU, which serves a diverse population of advanced cardiac and surgical patients. The program continues to grow and offers exposure to some of the most complex cardiac cases in the region.

Program Highlights
  • 30 heart transplants annually
  • 80 durable LVAD implants per year
  • Expanding ECMO program
  • Full spectrum of temporary mechanical circulatory support (Impella, Centrimag, IABP, etc.)
  • Implementation of a formal shock program
  • Pulmonary hypertension care integrated with advanced therapies
  • Robust clinical research programs in advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and critical care
Team Culture & Collaboration

Physicians in this role will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that includes cardiothoracic surgeons, advanced heart failure specialists, interventional and general cardiologists, intensivists, perfusionists, and experienced advanced practice providers. The program emphasizes high-quality, patient-centered care and continuous clinical innovation.

Qualifications
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Cardiology and/or Critical Care Medicine
  • Proficiency in temporary MCS and hemodynamic management required
  • TEE proficiency preferred but negotiable
  • Experience or interest in pulmonary hypertension and clinical research is strongly valued
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Indiana
