IT Network Consultant (Cisco) – 6-Month Contract

Location: Manhattan, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 remote)
Duration: 6 Months

A financial institution in Manhattan is seeking an experienced Network Engineer / Cisco Consultant to support the design, optimization, and security of its enterprise network infrastructure.This is a hands-on technical role focused on Cisco networking, network security, and infrastructure performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure.Optimize and maintain key platforms including Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco ISE NAC, Cisco Umbrella, AnyConnect VPN, and SolarWinds Orion.

• Perform advanced network troubleshooting (Layer 2–Layer 7) and improve network monitoring and performance.

• Strengthen network security and firewall configurations, including reviewing and optimizing firewall ACL rules.

• Integrate network infrastructure with Active Directory, RADIUS, LDAP, and authentication systems.

• Support ongoing network security hardening and infrastructure improvements.

Key Requirements

A. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
B. 6+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering with hands-on
responsibilities in network infrastructure design, evaluation, optimization, and support; CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Security required; CCIE is a strong plus but not required.
C. Candidates with solid hands-on experience using Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco IDS/IPS technologies, Cisco ISE NAC, Cisco Umbrella, Cisco AnyConnect VPN, and SolarWinds Orion (NPM) will be strongly preferred.
D. Familiarity with Microsoft and Windows-based environments, including Active Directory, Windows Server, and core Microsoft infrastructure services.
E. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, demonstrating strong time-management, prioritization, multitasking, flexibility, adaptability, problem-solving skills, and work independently with minimal supervision.
F. Keen attention to detail, professional demeanor, and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
G. Ability to perform occasional off-hours and weekend work for maintenance windows and to provide emergency on-call support as needed.
Experience with network security, firewall management, and enterprise infrastructure
Familiarity with Windows Server and Active Directory environments
Ability to work independently and support off-hours maintenance when needed
Must be able to describe recent troubleshooting or configuration cases, including the "steps" you performed.
Explain "HOW" you completed the tasks, including your approaches/tools/commands used during the process.
