Job description

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Information Technology Services Division is filling two Systems Analyst II positions in the Information Technology (IT) Power Matrix, Power System Information and Advanced Technology section. These positions will support the Power Work Management Information System (WMIS) and Electric Trouble Outage Management System (OMS) groups . The WMIS position will be located at JFB, 111 N. Hope St., Los Angeles, CA 90012 and the OMS position will be located at 1141 W. 2nd Street. Los Angeles, CA 90026 The available hours are 5/40 or 9/80 with a start time between 6:30am to 8:00am . The duties of the positions include, but are not limited, to the following:
  • Administer, configure, and provide technical support to Power WMIS and Electric Trouble OMS users .

• Respond to trouble tickets and service requests related to Power WMIS and Electric Trouble OMS client software.
• Deploy and maintain devices for the Power WMIS and Electric Trouble OMS user base. Conduct end-to-end system analysis, design, configuration, and enhancement.
• Act as the IT liaison for effective communication within the business unit.
• Enforce change management policies for incidents, tickets, requests, and system changes.
• Utilize Microsoft Deployment Toolkit for computer image maintenance.
• Prepare software packages for deployment using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM)
• Apply security patches on client workstations, ensuring desktop security.
• Provide responsive remote desktop support for Power WMIS and Electric Trouble OMS users.
• Deliver training and user support on desktop products unique to Power business units .
• Prepare user and system documentation, including system architecture diagrams.
• Engage with customers to gather business requirements for efficiency enhancements.
• Support infrastructure teams with servers, virtualization, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Participate in meetings to discuss project status, address concerns, and coordinate IT activities.
• Perform additional responsibilities, including time recording, meeting attendance, and administrative tasks.
• May be required to report to other locations to perform daily work.
A valid California Driver's license is required and must be maintained during the course of employment. Overtime and some travel may be required. Work location may change to accommodate business needs. During the temporary telecommute schedule in place, employees may have to share and alternately use a workspace(s) on their respective onsite days.
Candidates will be evaluated for the following work-related skills, knowledge, abilities and other qualifications by interview.
• Proficient understanding of System Development Life Cycle
• Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library, with a focus on incident, problem, change and release management.
• Familiarity with Service Desk functions .
• Hands-on experience in installation, configuration, deployment, procurement, and troubleshooting of PC hardware and software. Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting complex software packages; ability to create MECM software packages for deployment and upgrades.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of MECM is desirable.
• A+ and/or Microsoft Desktop Technician certification is desired .
• Adherence to workplace safety rules.
