POSITION PURPOSE
The Lab Operator supports production and shipping by performing functions to ensure products meet quality requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Safely operate testing equipment (Tensile, Charpy, Bend & Brinell) and machining equipment (HDMI-plasma cutter & CNC machine.)
• Safely operate sample preparation equipment and demonstrate the ability to learn MES and lab test requirements.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Cross train in all other labs to provide coverage as needed.
• Complete all training within designated timeframes and attend all required meetings.
• Understand and support the company's goals and values and adhere to company, department, safety, quality, environmental, and ethics policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience (or the ability to learn) in the operation of CNC Machining equipment preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Ability to interpret industry specifications (ASTM/EN/API/ABS/CSA.)
• Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• Good communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain safe work area.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES / DIRECT REPORTS
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee will be required to sit, stand, and/or walk as follows:
• Sitting 1-4 hours at a time; average 6 hours a day

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Position is full time, non-exempt, and is eligible for overtime
• Position works (12) hours a day, rotating shifts to include both days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Overtime coverage for personnel on other shifts is expected.
