Job Title: Field Technician

Job Description

This Field Technician position focuses on performing field audits of distribution poles in the Louisiana area using Katapult or IKE equipment. The role combines light fielding work, construction-related tasks, and the use of digital tools to capture accurate data that supports utilities engineering and power distribution projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field audits of distribution poles in the Louisiana area using Katapult or IKE equipment.
  • Conduct light fielding work to collect accurate measurements, photos, and condition assessments of poles and related infrastructure.
  • Use a computer or iPad to document field findings, complete audit forms, and upload data in a timely and organized manner.
  • Support utilities engineering and power distribution projects by providing precise and complete field data.
  • Apply basic construction, construction management, and inspection knowledge while working on-site.
  • Collaborate with project teams to clarify field conditions, resolve discrepancies, and ensure that field information aligns with project requirements.
  • Follow established field procedures, safety guidelines, and quality standards during all site visits.
  • Manage daily schedules to complete assigned audits and tasks within expected timeframes.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding progress, issues, and any obstacles encountered in the field.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience performing field audits or fielding work, particularly on distribution poles.
  • Proficiency using Katapult or IKE equipment to capture and document field data.
  • Ability to operate a computer or iPad to complete digital field audits and reporting tasks.
  • Foundational understanding of utilities engineering, power distribution, or related field operations.
  • Basic knowledge of construction, construction management, and inspection practices in a field environment.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements, documentation, and data entry.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while following established procedures and safety practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with distribution poles and power-related field work.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar tools used in construction or utilities projects.
  • Bg in construction, utilities engineering, or project management.
  • Comfort working in a variety of outdoor field conditions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple field assignments.

Work Environment

This role is primarily field-based in the Houston area, with regular travel to sites containing distribution poles and related power infrastructure. You will work approximately 40 hours per week, spending much of your time outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions. The position requires frequent use of Katapult or IKE equipment, along with a computer or iPad, to complete field audits and documentation. The work environment emphasizes safe field practices, accurate data collection, and collaboration with project teams, while also offering paid time off and holiday benefit

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
