Temp Driving information

What is temp driving?

Temp driving jobs are temporary positions where drivers are hired for a short period to meet specific transportation needs. These jobs can include delivering goods, transporting passengers, or driving for companies during busy seasons, staff shortages, or special events. Temp drivers may work with agencies or directly for companies and can operate various types of vehicles, such as vans, trucks, or cars. The flexibility and short-term nature of these roles make them ideal for people seeking interim work or extra income.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temp driver?

To thrive as a Temp Driver, you need a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and knowledge of local routes or delivery areas. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, vehicle maintenance basics, and sometimes certifications for specific vehicle types (like CDL for trucks) are typically required. Reliability, time management, and strong customer service skills help set top performers apart in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring timely, safe deliveries and maintaining a positive reputation for both the driver and their employer.

What types of schedules and assignments can I expect as a temp driver, and how flexible is the work?

As a temp driver, you can expect a wide range of assignments, from short-term same-day deliveries to multi-week contracts covering staff absences or seasonal demand. Schedules are often highly flexible, with opportunities for both part-time and full-time hours depending on client needs. Many temp drivers appreciate the variety and adaptability, but it can also mean fluctuating workloads and last-minute changes. It's important to stay organized, communicate clearly with your agency or employer, and be ready to adapt to different routes, vehicle types, and team dynamics.

What is the difference between Temp Driving vs Delivery Driver?
