JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Non-Credit Horticulture Instructors are responsible for teaching hands-on, skills-based courses in various areas of horticulture for youth and adult learners in a non-credit, Community Education setting. Courses may focus on topics such as landscape maintenance, beekeeping, or floral design. This position supports learners seeking personal enrichment, job skills development, or entry into horticulture-related careers.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Develop and deliver engaging non-credit courses in horticulture that meet the needs of diverse adult learners.
Teach a variety of topics including, but not limited to: landscape design, beekeeping, or floral design.
Provide hands-on instruction and demonstrations using real-world tools, materials, and horticultural techniques.
Ensure student understanding of proper safety practices and environmental stewardship.
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity, collaboration, and confidence.
Collaborate with staff to align course content with community or workforce needs.
Recommend materials, tools, and supplies necessary for course delivery.
Stay informed of trends and best practices in the horticulture industry.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Teaching experience (kids/teens/adults/seniors)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop and deliver engaging and practical course content
Passion for teaching and a commitment to helping others achieve personal growth and enrichment

Schedule: Hours are generally nights and weekends.
