Job Description
Position Summary:
Adjunct faculty members assist the department under the leadership of the Principal Faculty for the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program. The individual in this position is continually involved in the implementation and the evaluation of the program and students. An adjunct faculty member is actively involved in teaching, guidance, and advising of PA students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
An Adjunct Faculty member will:
  • Support the mission of Ashland University and Dwight Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences
  • Support Ashland University's philosophy of Accent on the Individual
  • Maintain exemplary academic standards and consistently pursue active development as a teacher and academician.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and role modeling for students.
  • Function under the guidance of the Principal Faculty and follow the Master Course Syllabi in the development of the course. Communicate student outcomes to the student and Principal Faculty; orient students to the course; make assignments consistent with the specific outcomes for the designated course; provide appropriate student supervision; evaluate the student's achievement and progress relative to their outcomes through formative and summative evaluations.
  • Meet deadlines, attend meetings, complete compliance requirements, and meet and work with staff, faculty, students, and the public.
  • Possess the positive, professional qualities of courtesy, sincerity, appearance, and decorum.

Required Qualifications
Education:
  • Master's degree or higher required
  • MD/DO, PhD, PharmD or other terminal degree

Experience:
  • Certification and licensure requirement specific to discipline and course assignment
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience
  • Preferred experience as faculty in a PA program or other health profession program
