Schedule:

Monday: 3pm-9pm

Wednesday 6pm-10pm

Friday 4pm-9pm

Saturday 7am-10am, 3pm-9pm

Sunday 7am-3pm


Total: 32 hours

*Possible 11pm-7am overnight shift per month*


Title: Telephone Triage RN (TTRN) Reports To: Senior Coordinator of Triage

Expected Hours: Full Time Hourly/30+ Salary: Triage Salary Scale

Supervisory Duties: No Overtime Exempt: No

Position Summary:

The Telephone Triage RN (TTRN) is a remote position responsible for triaging phone calls from unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) safely, efficiently, and effectively while upholding regulatory and policy requirements. This responsibility also includes accurate, detailed, and quality documentation, and follow up. The TTRN is designated as a Mandatory/Essential Employee. This employee is a Registered Nurse providing essential care to intellectually and developmentally disabled persons in the community, and is required to report to work during State and/or National emergency periods.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain RN license, CPR certification and malpractice insurance.

  • Telephone Triage

    1. All phone calls must be accepted immediately.

    2. The Telephone Triage Nurse must have his/her computer readily available at all times.

    3. All calls received and made regarding individuals must be documented in the call log.

    4. All calls must be added in real time and typed in as they are taken.

    5. The Telephone Triage Nurse must review the 5 most recent calls as well as the client info box with each call.

    6. Communicate with delegating nurses, fellow on call nurses, Management, pharmacy personnel, and assist with/facilitate hospital and sub-acute rehab facility discharges as needed to ensure safety and quality.

    7. Current policies and regulations must be followed with each phone call.

    8. Resources (i.e. medical and medication records) to ensure safety must be utilized.

    9. Review, file, and follow up on medical records as per policy.

  • In the event that the United States Government and/or the Local State Government determines and announces the decision to close, delay or cancel activities in the State of Maryland related to emergency conditions, this position is required to complete all regular duties or as instructed by management.

  • Attend in person scheduled Nurse and Staff meetings as directed by the supervisor.

  • Attend virtual meetings as directed by the supervisor.

  • Respond with courteousness and timeliness to any work related communication amongst the team in real time during working hours.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • AS, AA or BS Degree in nursing is preferred.

  • Current/valid Maryland RN license or current/valid multistate compact license is required.

  • Experience in the developmental disabilities environment is highly desired.

  • Must have a working โ€œsmartโ€ cell phone capable of making calls, receiving calls, receiving emails and sending emails.

  • Must have reliable wireless internet.

  • Must be able to fluently speak and understand spoken English.

  • Must be able to fluently write and read English.
