Job description

Overview

We are seeking aย Monitor Technician,ย sometimes referred to asย ourย Telemetry Monitor Technicianย (Tech)ย or Tele Monitor Tech.ย A Tele Monitor Tech willย beย responsible forย observingย and interpreting patients' heart rhythms and other vital data transmitted by telemetry equipment. This role is crucial forย identifyingย and alerting the medical team to any abnormalities or critical changes in a patient's cardiac or health status. The Monitor Technician detects early warning signs of cardiac events, ensuringย timelyย intervention, and improving patient outcomes in our telemetry unit.ย

Shifts Available:ย Daysย ย 

Hours:ย 12-hour shifts - 7:00am to 7:00pmย 

Location:ย St. Joseph Medical Centerย - Kansas City, MOย 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):ย 

  • Cardiac monitoring,ย observeย and interpret heart rhythms (ECG/EKG) displayed on telemetry monitorsย 
  • Recognize normal and abnormal cardiac patterns, such as arrhythmias, and document findingsย 
  • Notify nurses or physicians of any significant changes in a patient's heart rhythm or vital signs promptly, escalate critical issues (e.g., life-threatening)ย immediatelyย 
  • Set up,ย maintain, and troubleshoot telemetry equipment, including electrodes and monitorsย 
  • Ensure proper signal transmission and resolve issues with poor connections or faulty equipmentย 
  • Record telemetry readings in the patient's medical record for documentation and review, generate rhythm strips for analysis by the medical teamย 
Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for all new hires, effective April 2014.2. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current3. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current4. Six months previous experience in Healthcare or as Monitor Technician
