Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Telemetry/Direct Observation Unit position requiring 1 year of experience and at least one prior travel assignment.

Details
  • Acute care hospital setting in a 22-bed Observation Unit (Med-Surg)
  • Heavy telemetry unit monitored via central monitoring, with RNs performing their own EKGs and blood draws
  • Common patient population includes miscellaneous medical observation cases with discharges or admissions up to 16 patients per day
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6 with charge nurse support
  • CNA support available on the floor when staffing allows
  • No ventilators used on this unit
  • Uses MEDITECH as the electronic charting system
  • Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, working every other weekend
  • Floating to other Med-Surg units required
  • No call or standby requirements
  • Fast-paced environment with high patient turnover
Requirements
  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • At least one prior travel assignment required
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required
  • ACLS certification recommended but not required
Additional Information
  • Charge nurse occasionally takes a patient assignment
  • Holiday coverage rotates in line with permanent staff scheduling
  • Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
  • Dress code includes Caribbean Blue scrub top and bottom, or a mix of white and Caribbean Blue, or all white
  • Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for placement
  • Not eligible for placement if previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months
