Job description

Zoox is looking for a manufacturing test engineer to be responsible for manufacturing testing of our sensors and ECUs used in our autonomous vehicle. In this role, you will be developing automated tests for critical components, including but not limited to lidars, cameras, radars, telematics, HV modules, sensor pod accessories, etc. You will work cross-functionally with our electrical engineering and software teams to develop and test new products and technologies.
We are looking for an engineer who is curious, enthusiastic, and not afraid to embrace new technologies! The ability to work independently as well as organize work around schedules and critical deadlines is a definite plus.
In this role, you will:
  • Build, release & support test solutions for use on the manufacturing lines at Zoox and at contract manufacturing partners
  • Develop testing scripts to verify functionality, control test instruments, capture test parameters, and analyze results for continuous improvement
  • Implement adequate test coverage across all phases of manufacturing (PCBA, module, system, vehicle) through collaboration with other teams
  • Release updated test programs for new generations of hardware and software
  • Establish best practices and drive continuous improvement on test deployment, runtime, and yield

Qualifications
  • BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or equivalent technical degree
  • 8+ years of industry experience or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of Python and shell (bash) scripting
  • Strong knowledge of testing and troubleshooting complex electronic assemblies in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in developing automated manufacturing tests on Linux. Ability to debug failures using commands in the terminal
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Bonus Qualifications
  • MS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, or equivalent technical degree
  • Experience in lidars, cameras, and radars is a definite plus
  • Knowledge of pytest, unittest, or similar test frameworks
  • Knowledge of automotive protocols such as CAN, automotive ethernet

$187,000 - $225,000 a year
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
