Job description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to support a contract engagement in Northampton, Massachusetts. This Contract position is ideal for a finance specialist who can oversee accounting operations, strengthen reporting accuracy, and bring structure to financial processes in a dynamic environment. The role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable aligning financial records, refining account structures, and ensuring reliable data flow across core business systems.


Responsibilities:

• Configure the QuickBooks Online environment, including the general ledger framework, job cost structure, and related account mappings.

• Coordinate financial data integration so project management information is reflected correctly within accounting records.

• Manage a contract period of parallel bookkeeping by maintaining records across two accounting platforms to confirm continuity and accuracy.

• Build reporting formats in the new system that reconcile with prior financial outputs and support management review.

• Establish account hierarchies and perform validation exercises using sample transactions before full operational use.

• Enter opening balances and other live financial data with close attention to completeness and reconciliation.


• Proven experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role.
• Strong hands-on expertise with QuickBooks Online setup, including chart of accounts, reporting, and financial configuration.
• Experience supporting accounting system implementation, validation, or data alignment projects.
• Solid understanding of general ledger management, account reconciliation, and job cost accounting principles.
• Ability to create and compare financial reports across systems to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• High level of accuracy in document handling, record organization, and financial data entry.
• Proficiency in document control, document scanning, and compiling supporting records for accounting operations.
