Job description

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the organization’s daily operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and alignment with strategic goals. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating operational activities while managing resources and supervising teams to achieve high-performance standards. The Operations Manager plays a critical role in fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategically and tactically plan, implement, and manage the warehouse in compliance with the company’s policies, core values, and mission/vision. 
  • Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including career development plans for direct reports and operational problem resolution.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve warehouse systems and fulfillment processes to drive efficiency, accuracy, and cost savings. 
  • Partner with HR to collaborate on budget, organizational staffing, and overall training for the site. 
  • Drives the team’s high-performance workplace culture by setting high expectations aligned with our organization’s core values. Proactively provides positive and constructive feedback through adult-to-adult conversations, fostering a culture of mutual trust and respect.
  • Partner with Safety Manager to evaluate and implement safety and security protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees. 
  • Proactively works to promote a growth mindset with a large team that achieves organization and site objectives. 
  • Manage a team of supervisors, providing guidance, coaching and performance feedback to ensure team members are meeting performance targets. 
  • Proactively works to assist others in achieving the organization’s objectives.  

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field, preferred.
  •  At least 5 years of experience in warehouse and fulfillment operations, with a focus on WMS and 3PL operations.
  • Strong strategic thinker, with a track record of developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with a track record of managing and developing teams.
  • Proficiency in WMS and other warehouse technologies, with the ability to manage these systems.
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety and security protocols, with experience developing and implementing these protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address operational challenges.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a sense of urgency and a focus on results.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on operational tasks or attending meetings.
  • Occasionally required to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular use of a computer and other office equipment, requiring hand and wrist motions.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily an office setting with occasional visits to warehouse, production, or operational facilities.
  • Fast paced and dynamic environment with frequent deadlines and evolving priorities.
  • Occasional exposure to warehouses or production noise and climate conditions.

Travel Requirements:

  • Moderate travel requires attending meetings, visiting operational sites, or managing vendor and stakeholder relationships 25% of the time.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversee and manage warehouse supervisors, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to department supervisors and team leads to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Foster a culture of mutual trust and respect, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all teams.
