Summary

A commercial mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager / Operations Manager to oversee its mechanical construction division. This role focuses on leading and supporting a team of Mechanical Project Managers while helping drive operational consistency, performance, and growth across commercial HVAC and mechanical installation projects.

This position is ideal for a Project Manager who has transitioned into overseeing multiple PMs and understands both project execution and operational leadership. The role is designed to free up executive leadership by taking ownership of day-to-day project operations and team oversight.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support a team of Mechanical Project Managers across commercial installation projects

  • Ensure projects are being executed according to schedule, budget, and company standards

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and accountability to PMs managing active mechanical projects

  • Review project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and risk items across the portfolio

  • Support workload planning, staffing needs, and operational prioritization

  • Act as an escalation point for complex project, client, or field issues

  • Participate in project meetings and leadership discussions as needed

  • Attend meetings in Manhattan as required to support projects and client coordination

  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership on operational strategy and performance


Qualifications
  • Strong background in commercial mechanical / HVAC construction

  • Experience as a Senior Project Manager overseeing multiple projects and teams

  • Prior experience managing or supervising 5–7 Project Managers preferred

  • Solid understanding of mechanical construction operations, sequencing, and risk management

  • Ability to lead teams, enforce standards, and drive accountability
