A telecom network is a system of interconnected devices and infrastructure that enables the transmission of voice, data, and video communications over distances. These networks include components like switches, routers, transmission lines, and wireless technologies that work together to connect users and devices. Telecom networks are essential for providing phone, internet, and other communication services to individuals and businesses. They can be wired or wireless and often span local, national, or even global areas.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in telecom network roles?

To thrive in a Telecom Network role, you need a solid background in network engineering, telecommunications protocols, and a relevant degree such as in computer science or electrical engineering. Familiarity with tools like network analyzers, Cisco equipment, and certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are commonly required. Job description

Description:

Can you confidently navigate complex conversations around connectivity, transport, and network solutions? Are you a proven telecom seller who knows how to turn technical requirements into strategic, long-term customer relationships?

IdeaTek is looking for a Senior Enterprise Account Manager to drive strategic growth across enterprise, carrier, wholesale, and partner channels. This is a highly technical sales role for an experienced telecommunications professional who understands that the solution goes far beyond internet access. You’ll sell sophisticated connectivity, broadband, transport, and network solutions while developing relationships with enterprise organizations, major carriers, wholesalers, resellers, and other strategic partners.

You’ll leverage your industry knowledge and established network to identify opportunities, get in front of key decision-makers, and navigate complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles. From engaging partners who influence enterprise technology decisions to developing opportunities within multi-location organizations, you’ll combine technical credibility, consultative selling, and executive-level relationship building to secure meaningful, long-term agreements.

This is a remote position with approximately 75% travel. You’ll travel across multiple states to meet with customers and partners, visit corporate locations, and represent IdeaTek at industry conferences, conventions, and other strategic events.

A Day in the Life

No two days will look exactly alike—and much of your work will happen where the opportunities and relationships are.

You may spend the morning meeting with a carrier, reseller, or strategic partner to uncover an opportunity, then work with IdeaTek’s technical teams to develop a network solution around an enterprise customer's connectivity, transport, or infrastructure requirements. Another day could put you at a corporate location presenting a solution to key stakeholders, negotiating a long-term agreement, or attending an industry conference where you’re building relationships with the people influencing major telecom decisions.

Behind the scenes, you’ll actively manage your enterprise pipeline in Zoho, identify opportunities within multi-location organizations, and strategically develop relationships across the telecom partner ecosystem. You’ll be expected to understand both the business and technical sides of the conversation, bringing the right IdeaTek resources to the table to turn complex requirements into executable solutions.

What You’ll Do

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to generate new revenue across enterprise, carrier, wholesale, reseller, and strategic partner channels.
  • Sell complex enterprise connectivity, broadband, transport, and network solutions based on customer infrastructure, performance, scalability, and business requirements.
  • Build and leverage relationships with major carriers, wholesalers, resellers, technology partners, sales representatives, and other industry influencers to identify and develop new opportunities.
  • Establish trusted relationships with C-suite executives, IT and network leaders, procurement teams, and other technical and business decision-makers.
  • Partner with internal technical teams to architect solutions, validate feasibility, develop pricing, and present compelling technical and business proposals.
  • Navigate complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles from prospecting and discovery through solution design, proposal, negotiation, contracting, and close.
  • Support the development of business cases and negotiate mutually beneficial, long-term agreements that support customer requirements and IdeaTek’s growth objectives.
  • Own and actively manage the Enterprise Sales funnel in Zoho, maintaining accurate account information, opportunity stages, activity, forecasting, and next steps.
  • Represent IdeaTek at industry conferences, conventions, partner meetings, corporate locations, networking events, and other strategic business development opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

To be considered for this role, you’ll need the following required qualifications:

  • 10+ years of telecommunications sales experience, with proven success selling enterprise, carrier, wholesale, or network solutions.
  • Deep knowledge of the telecom industry, including the carrier, wholesale, reseller, and partner ecosystem and key players influencing enterprise connectivity decisions.
  • Strong technical understanding of enterprise connectivity and network solutions, with the ability to translate technical requirements into business solutions.
  • Proven success developing net-new business, opening strategic accounts, and securing long-term enterprise agreements.
  • Experience building relationships and selling to C-suite executives, IT and network leaders, procurement teams, and other senior decision-makers.
  • Strong consultative discovery skills with the ability to uncover technical requirements, business challenges, and growth opportunities.
  • Experience navigating multi-stakeholder sales cycles from technical discovery and solution development through pricing, proposal, negotiation, and contracting.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience documenting account activity within a CRM.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% across multiple states for customer visits, corporate meetings, conferences, conventions, and partner engagements.
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.

What Will Help You Stand Out

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Zoho CRM.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field.

Desired Attributes

Beyond the qualifications, these attributes are what make someone a great fit for our team:

  • Technically Credible – You understand telecom and network solutions deeply enough to earn the confidence of technical buyers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Well-Connected – You understand the industry landscape, know the players, and know how to turn relationships into meaningful opportunities.
  • Strategic – You see beyond individual transactions and identify opportunities to build larger, longer-term customer and partner relationships.
  • Consultative – You dig into technical and business requirements before determining the right solution.
  • Driven – You actively create opportunities, maintain momentum across complex sales cycles, and hold yourself accountable for results.
  • Executive-Minded – You communicate confidently and credibly with senior business and technical leaders.
  • Collaborative – You know when to bring Sales Engineering, network, operations, and other experts into the conversation to deliver the right solution.
