General Summary

The Director of Finance is responsible for providing strategic and operational financial leadership to the organization. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and financial planning to support business objectives and operational decision-making. The position is a fixed-term engagement and requires a high level of independence, judgment, and collaboration with executive leadership.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Financial Leadership and Strategy
    • Provide financial leadership to the organization, supporting strategic planning, business initiatives, and executive decision-making. Partner with senior leadership to align financial strategy with operational goals.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cash Flow Management
    • Develop, manage, and monitor budgets and forecasts. Oversee cash flow planning, liquidity management, and financial projections to ensure financial stability and operational continuity.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
    • Prepare and present accurate, timely financial reports, analyses, and dashboards for senior leadership. Ensure reporting supports transparency, compliance, and informed decision-making.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance
    • Establish, maintain, and monitor internal financial controls. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accounting standards, and company policies.
  • Systems, Processes, and Work Product Ownership
    • Develop, refine, and document financial models, systems, processes, and reporting frameworks. Ensure financial tools and documentation are scalable, accurate, and aligned with company needs.
  • Cross-Functional Support and Communication
    • Collaborate with operations, HR, and leadership teams to support financial planning, cost management, and operational efficiency initiatives.

Physical Demands

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MS Finance) or CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive finance or accounting experience
  • Prior experience in a senior finance leadership role preferred
  • Experience supporting multi-state or growing organizations strongly preferred

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer / Executive Leadership
Direct Reports: Finance staff or contractors, as assigned
