About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Technical Advisor to partner closely with the Vice President of Telco Engineering. This role will act as an extension of leadership, providing critical thought leadership, technical insight, and operational leverage to amplify the impact of telco engineering initiatives aligned with Red Hat technology and portfolio vision. The Technical Advisor will engage deeply in complex telco challenges, helping define technical direction, drive execution, and represent leadership across internal and external engagements. This role requires a blend of technical depth, strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, strong communications skills, and executive presence.

What You Will Do

  • Technical Advisory: Act as the primary technical advisor to the Vice President of Telco Engineering, aligning priorities with telco strategy and addressing pressing technical concerns

  • Executive Representation: Represent leadership in high-impact customer, partner, and internal stakeholder meetings; anticipate needs and ensure continuity in decision-making

  • Complex Problem Solving: Dive into complex telco challenges (e.g., 5G network optimization, RAN, AI and automation) and develop innovative solutions in collaboration with our partners through research and experimentation

  • Technical Strategy Development: Collaborate with engineering teams and senior leadership to define telco technical strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry trends

  • Architectural Guidance: Provide expert guidance on telco network architecture, cloud-native solutions, and edge computing; advocate for scalability, reliability, and security in telco systems and integration with partner technologies and solutions

  • Leadership and Mentorship: Mentor engineering teams, foster a culture of technical excellence, and champion knowledge sharing in telco technologies

  • Emerging Technologies: Stay informed about telco trends (e.g., Open RAN, AI-driven network automation) and evaluate their impact on products, advising on strategic adoption

  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify technical risks in telco systems and lead initiatives to ensure robustness and compliance with industry standards

  • Thought Leadership: Represent and act as spokesperson Red Hat in telco forums, conferences, and media publications to build industry reputation as a thought leader in telco innovation


What You Will Bring

  • Proven experience in a senior architect, engineering, or advisory role within telco or related domains

  • Strong technical background in telco technologies (e.g., 5G, NFV, SDN, RAN, AI, edge computing) and systems design

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment with agility and cross-functional collaboration

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience as a Technical Advisor, Chief Architect, or Engineering Director in telco or enterprise networking

  • Experience working closely with executive leadership on telco strategy

  • Public speaking, thought leadership, or industry forums and community engagement experience in telco and open source

The salary range for this position is $193,390.00 - $318,980.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat's compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
