Program Instructor for the
Parks & Recreation Department, Programs & Classes Division. The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. The Town of Clayton also offers a range of PT positions including positions in Parks & Rec, Library, and Cultural Arts.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of this position is to create and implement classes, summer camps, workshops, and/or programs for youth/teen, adult, senior citizen and participants with other abilities.
- Develops curriculum for classes taught.
- Teaches classes to youth/teen, adult, seniors, including all set up, take down, and cleaning for these classes.
- Prepares instructional materials and supplies.
- Enforces safety rules and regulations; maintains order in class and reports problems to supervisor.
- Notifies program/facility management of all equipment needs, safety hazards and class concerns.
- Keeps accurate records, including incident/accident reports, time records and daily attendance.
- Stays current on industry standards and their influence on desired outcomes.
- Assists in developing ideas for new class programs in order to meet the needs of the recreational facility and the community.
- Assists with organization of supplies, equipment, and inventory.
- Interacts with parents, students, teachers, and the general public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provides an enthusiastic and fun environment for learning to occur.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Special Requirements, Education & Experience- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation programming
- Knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Parks and Recreation Department and related state and local laws
- The ability to develop and implement small scale recreation programs
- The ability to work effectively with other staff personnel, community organizations, the general public and special population groups
- Skill in organizing a variety of activities including attention to details, deadlines, and proper coordination with others
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Other licenses/certifications, CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
- Previous experience teaching recreational programs is preferred.

When a salary range is posted, the actual salary will be based on relevant competencies, knowledge, skills & abilities, internal equity and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.
